Major heavy truck companies deploy new projects, and new regulations for commercial vehicle access attempts to attack

On March 21, 2011, Shanghai SAIC Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. was formally established. From January 11, 2011, SAIC set up SAIC Commercial Vehicle Corporation, and on February 28, 2011, the Datong brand was released. The restructuring of the Shanghai auto commercial vehicle sector took only 2 months and 10 days. SAIC is just a spray in the tide of crowded commercial vehicles by crowded car companies. According to rough statistics, since 2010, more than a dozen companies have announced their deployment in the commercial vehicle sector.

On January 1, 2011, the "Regulations for Commercial Vehicle Manufacturing Enterprises and Product Access Management" formulated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology was formally implemented. The New Deal put forward specific requirements for the investment, production capacity, product design and development capability, and production consistency guarantee capability of new commercial vehicle enterprises. . According to the new regulations, the total investment of newly-built commercial vehicle companies shall not be less than 2 billion yuan, of which the self-owned funds shall not be less than 800 million yuan. Some analysts believe that the threshold for car companies to deploy commercial vehicles has been raised, indicating that the New Deal is trying to regulate the investment behavior of commercial vehicles.

Big car companies have new projects

In the field of commercial vehicles, medium and heavy trucks are usually favored by companies. In September 2010, the 2010 commercial vehicle industry outlook report released by business consulting company AlixPartners (Ai Ruibo) showed that of the 15 largest medium-duty truck manufacturers in the world, 5 were from China, namely Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle and FAW Jiefang. China National Heavy Duty Truck, Beiqi Foton and Shaanxi Auto, these five companies account for more than 80% of China's medium and heavy truck market. Since 2010, there have been close to 10 medium- and heavy-duty truck projects in China, and all of the above five companies have participated.

Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles sold more than 300,000 vehicles in 2010. In 2010, it invested 10 new plants and planned production capacity of 80,000 vehicles. It mainly produces Dongfeng Tianlong and future heavy truck new products, of which 40,000 capacity in the first phase will be put into operation in June 2011. The Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle's investment in new plants is mainly due to the fact that the production capacity cannot meet the needs.

In July 2010, FAW Group spent RMB 2 billion to invest in a new base in Wuxi. According to the plan, the first phase of construction will be completed in March 2012. It will produce 50,000 heavy-duty diesel engines annually, and the new base will eventually produce 100,000 heavy-duty engines. year.

In August 2010, China National Heavy Duty Truck and Chengdu Trump signed a cooperation agreement, and the two parties will work hard to build Chengdu Trump into a commercial vehicle production base with an annual output of 400,000 full-scale commercial vehicles and a turnover of 40 billion yuan. Since then, China National Heavy Duty Truck Co., Ltd., together with Mianyang Fulin Group and Mianyang Peace Car Industry Co., Ltd. have invested in a new production base with an annual output of 10,000 special vehicles. After that, Sinotruk also signed a contract with Fujian Yongan Automobile Co., Ltd. to establish a commercial vehicle project in Sanming City, Fujian Province, which will form an annual production capacity of 80,000 to 100,000 vehicles for medium-heavy and light trucks.

The Foton Beijing Auman GTL energy-saving heavy truck project with a total investment of more than 2 billion yuan from Beiqi Foton started its technological transformation in 2010. After the completion of the technological transformation, the annual production capacity will be 80,000 units, and the total production capacity of the Auman brand heavy truck will reach 160,000 units. On July 16, 2010, Daimler and Beiqi Foton Motors established a joint venture with a 50 percent stake in the two companies. The joint venture company's production capacity for heavy trucks is 100,000 vehicles per year.

In July 2010, after an initial consultation between Shaanxi Automobile Group and Rui'an Yunding Holding Group, it intends to expand production on the basis of Shaanxi Automobile Group Wenzhou Yunding Automobile Co., Ltd., and an annual output of 60,000 medium and heavy truck production projects will be located in Ruian City. Motorcycle industry base.

After the top five heavy truck companies, JAC, Valin, Hubei Sanhuan, Baotou Beiben, Yutong Bus and Jirui Joint Truck all accelerated the layout of medium and heavy trucks.

Total capacity or surplus

After many large auto companies successively invested in huge projects in 2010, the new "Access Rules for Commercial Vehicles" was implemented on January 1, 2011. The New Deal put forward specific requirements on the investment, production capacity, product design and development capabilities, and production consistency assurance capabilities of newly-built commercial vehicle companies, demonstrating the intention of the State to regulate the rampage of commercial vehicle investment.

According to the current production capacity of heavy trucks, the total production capacity will be approximately 2 million units in the next year. For the heavy-duty truck industry with a market size of 1 million in 2010, the production capacity is obviously excessive, resulting in a huge amount of redundant construction. The New Deal revealed that the signal is to raise the barriers to entry and encourage companies to strengthen research and development. To a certain extent, it welcomes the entry of powerful companies, indicating that the government still encourages commercial vehicles.

The medium and heavy truck market is completely different from the passenger car market, and competition is mostly among domestic companies. For a long time, China's commercial vehicle manufacturing companies have obvious cost advantages, but most companies do not own core technologies, which leads to relatively weak international competitiveness. In the future, it does not rule out that some production companies will take the market for technical change. The medium- and heavy-duty truck market is greatly affected by policies and economy. Emission standards and safety standards will increase the manufacturing companies will face technical difficulties. At the same time, economic uncertainties will also affect the medium and heavy truck market.

As an industry leader, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. is also cautious about the development of China's medium- and heavy-duty truck market in 2011. In 2010, China’s annual sales of medium- and heavy-duty trucks were close to 1.3 million. This is already the highest level in 11 years. It will be harder in 2011 than in 2010. The annual level may even be reduced.
