However, such a seemingly ordinary event, Xiao Guopu, vice president of the SAIC Group and general manager of the commercial vehicle division, came to the scene.

Since the merger of Shangnan, SAIC has not seen any major movement in the integration of commercial vehicles. SAIC Motor has been focusing on Nanjing Iveco and its Yuejin brand.

"Commercial Automotive News" reporter noted that at the listing ceremony, the logo of SAIC's commercial vehicles could be seen everywhere, and the venue for the event was "just" the choice of SAIC's base camp, Shanghai.

What is even more interesting is that Gui Longming, the deputy general manager of Nanjing Iveco, who attended the meeting, was the former deputy general manager of the commercial vehicle division of SAIC Motor. It is understood that Gui Longming has just transferred to Nanjing Iveco soon, while the former deputy general manager Deng Xiaohai was transferred to general manager of Nanjing Iveco sales company.

This will have to make people guess: Does SAIC need to start working on Nanjing Iveco?

All actions of the shareholders and Nanjing Iveco are for a common goal, to enhance Nanjing Iveco's core advantages in the field of light commercial vehicles, and promote Nanjing Iveco to develop better and faster.

The significance of Yuejin to SAIC

At the listing ceremony, Xiao Guopu made the following evaluation: “Nanjing Iveco is an important support for SAIC Motor’s development of commercial vehicle business. It is SAIC's commercial vehicle segment targeting domestic light commercial vehicles, increasing its overall market share and gradually increasing the competitiveness of SAIC's commercial vehicles. In the future, SAIC will fully support the development of Nanjing Iveco and its Yuejin brand.” For SAIC, commercial vehicles have always been its shortcomings, and light passengers and light trucks are the short boards of short boards. Therefore, Nanjing Iveco and Its Yuejin brand has significant significance for SAIC Motor's product line.

Yuejin also shoulders the responsibility of helping SAIC commercial vehicles expand sales. Compared with SAIC's Shenwo Dachang, Yisitanna Commercial Vehicle and Huizhong Heavy Truck Co., Ltd., which had sales of only 7,000 vehicles per year, the annual sales of Yuejin’s approximately 40,000 vehicles have become significant. More importantly, Yuejin is an independent brand in the joint venture company. It witnessed the 50 years of development of China's light truck industry. The development of the leap forward is both good and bad. It is not only related to the profits of SAIC Motor, but also the fate of independent brands.

“The light truck market has a good development prospect. The market sales volume has already surpassed 1 million units. If there is more support for Yuejin in terms of network and capital, Yuejin will become the main force for self-owned brands.” Zhou Liang told reporters. The above factors make SAIC no reason not to make a leap forward.

Leap into "Heart" Made in China

The structure of SAIC's commercial vehicles has been formed and adjustments have begun. The key to the next step is the planning of power sources.

After Oka was listed, its biggest selling point was the Sophie III engine. According to the lowest price of Eurocard 79,000 yuan, the price of light trucks equipped with domestically-produced III engines is basically the same. Unfortunately, only two of the standard M-series Eurocards and wide-body W-series Eurocards are equipped with Sophim engines, and the rest are more matched with engines such as Dachai, Chaochai, Yangchai and Yunnei. .

An insider from Nanjing Iveco told reporters that compared with Dongfeng, Liberation, Futian and JAC, the biggest disadvantage of Yuejin is its own power system. After being incorporated into Nanjing Iveco, Yuejin assembled the Sophim SOFIM8140.43S3 engine. Since this engine is not domesticated, the price is still slightly higher. "After the localization of Somf engine, the competitiveness of Yuejin light truck will be stronger."

This reporter learned that, in addition to the domestic BJ493 and other diesel engines, after the Futian Cummins Corporation put into production in 2009, Futian light truck can be assembled on the State III, State IV Cummins light engine; liberation of light trucks, there is a large diesel, Dongfeng light truck also has Dongfeng Chaochai, Dongfeng Cummins .

The insider told reporters that after being merged with SAIC Motor, SAIC's commercial vehicle division had Shanghai Diesel Engine Company and SAIC Fiat Hongyan Power Company, which could put localization of the Sophie engine on SAIC Fiat Hongyan and Shangchai. This will not only reduce the cost of the engine, but also greatly reduce the logistics costs.
