According to the latest published petrochemical economic data, the output of caustic soda in the country increased in August from the same period last year, while the production of PVC and calcium carbide continued to decline slightly year-on-year.

In August of this year, the nationwide output of caustic soda was 2.617 million tons, an increase of 2.1% over the same period of last year. From January to August, the cumulative output was 17.3309 million tons, a cumulative increase of 3.3% over the same period last year. The PVC production in August was 1,087,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.7%, and cumulative production from January to August was 8,845,300 tons, a cumulative increase of 2.1% over the same period last year.

From the perspective of upstream raw materials, national calcium carbide production in July was 1.5167 million tons, down 2.5% year-on-year, cumulative production from January to August was 12.6433 million tons, a cumulative increase of 5.6%. In August, the country’s total salt output was 5.189 million tons, an increase of 14.6% year-on-year. From January to August, the cumulative production was 39.616 million tons, a slight increase of 1.1% year-on-year.
