Zhongyuan Dahua Large Air Separation Plant Successfully Tested
On December 1, the large-scale air separation plant of Henan Zhongyuan Dahua Group Co., Ltd.'s 500,000-ton methanol project successfully passed its first test run, marking a major breakthrough in the company's coal chemical project. This milestone highlights the company's growing capabilities in advanced energy technology and industrial development.
The air separation plant, designed and manufactured independently in China, has an impressive capacity to produce 52,000 cubic meters of oxygen, 9,000 cubic meters of ultra-high pressure nitrogen, 32,100 cubic meters of pressurized nitrogen, and 20,000 cubic meters of low-pressure nitrogen per hour. It is currently the largest such unit developed domestically, showcasing the technological strength and engineering expertise of the company.
To ensure the successful commissioning of the air separation unit, the company focused on every stage of the project, from design to installation and testing. During the design phase, the team worked closely with the design institute, addressing over a dozen integration points involving technology, machinery, piping, electrical systems, instrumentation, telecommunications, and architecture. They refined design details to ensure high-quality execution.
In construction and installation, a rolling construction plan was implemented, along with strict regulations and comprehensive management practices for safety, quality, and technical disclosure. This helped accelerate the project timeline while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
During the trial operation, the company followed a structured approach, starting with individual equipment tests before moving to full system linkage tests. Key steps such as the air compressor test, cold box leak detection, and expander testing were all completed successfully. The smooth performance of both single-unit and integrated tests ensured the stable operation of the entire air separation system, providing strong technical and equipment support for future production.
