Market Click: European polyethylene producers brewing price increase

Several major European polyethylene producers last week said that due to better-than-expected orders, they will consider raising the price per ton of polyethylene by 75 US dollars based on the contract price in December last year. It is estimated that the price of LDPE contracts started in January will increase to 1,100-1,120 euros/ton.
Manufacturers claimed that orders from LDPE, LLDPE and HDPE were all higher than expected, while the market was relatively stable in the past, because most Europeans are still on vacation. They said that although prices are still on the sidelines, they are expected to increase prices by the end of the month, when the polyethylene processors will return to the market and seek to supplement the inventory consumed in December last year.
