The annual report shows that Weichai Power achieved a net profit of 1.931 billion yuan in 2008, a slight decrease of 4.4% year-on-year; the earnings per share was 2.32 yuan, and the company intends to distribute a cash dividend of 0.13 yuan per share to all shareholders of the company. In the first quarter of 2009, it achieved operating income of 6.166 billion yuan, net profit of 361 million yuan, and earnings per share of 0.43 yuan.

Following the successful entry of the Hunan Torch in 2005, Weichai Power successfully acquired the French Boduuan Engine Company in January 2009 for a price of 2.99 million euros, and successfully took the first step in cross-border mergers and acquisitions. As a production and R&D enterprise of a 16-33L high-power engine, Baudouin provided complementary commercial advantages with Weichai Power. After the acquisition, Weichai Power took advantage of Baudouin's products, technologies and brands to further explore the foreign market.

Weichai Power stated that in 2009 for Weichai Power, it was a year in which both opportunities and challenges coexisted.
