Working fire in Lincolnshire, 8-14-16

On Sunday morning, August 14, 2016, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District (FPD) responded to a fire at 840 Inverrary Lane. Upon arrival, the first unit was met by the homeowner, who had already evacuated the split-level residence and reported visible flames on the lower level. The scene presented challenging conditions, as the home was in a hoarder state, making navigation difficult. Firefighters made their way downstairs and discovered a ruptured water line connected to the washing machine, which helped slow the spread of the fire. Due to the intensity of the fire, the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4, prompting mutual aid from nearby departments, including Buffalo Grove, Prospect Heights, Lake Zurich, and Wheeling. Chief officers from Deerfield and Countryside also arrived to assist with command and coordination. A Northbrook ambulance was later dispatched to transport the homeowner to the hospital for evaluation. Multiple firefighters were seen working at the scene, including Deputy Chief Scott Kneesley and Lieutenant Paul Schebel, both actively involved in the operation. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire, vent windows, and lay hose lines. After the fire was under control, crews began the overhaul process to ensure no hidden embers remained. Several photos captured the efforts, showing firefighters standing by, working on the scene, and assisting the homeowner. For more images from this incident, visit shapirophotography.net.
