Asia's largest amino-phenol base completed its first phase of renovation

The first phase of the nitrochlorobenzene plant renovation project at Liaoning Shixing Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. has successfully completed trial production, marking a significant milestone in the company's plan to become the world's largest producer of para-aminophenol within three years. This achievement underscores the company's commitment to expanding its global footprint and enhancing its competitive edge in the fine chemical industry. Liaoning Shixing is a leading manufacturer of pharmaceutical intermediates, with an annual output of 16,000 tons of p-aminophenol—making it the top producer in Asia and second globally. The company’s products are sold nationwide and exported to over 10 countries, including Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia, Japan, and Taiwan. Its para-aminophenol business holds the number one position in global sales. To meet growing demand, the company aims to increase its annual production capacity of p-aminophenol to 30,000 tons within three years, positioning itself as the world's largest production facility for this key chemical. Nitrochlorobenzene, a crucial raw material in the production of p-aminophenol, has long been a bottleneck for the company. The existing nitrochlorobenzene plant, with a capacity of 4,500 tons per year, could no longer support the company’s expansion plans. As a result, the company launched a major renovation project to boost production capacity to 90,000 tons annually. The first phase of this project, which increased capacity to 45,000 tons per year, was recently completed and passed trial production successfully. With the new plant fully operational, the company expects to significantly reduce the cost of its main product, saving approximately 6 million yuan annually. This cost reduction will provide stronger support for the company’s efforts to expand into larger international markets and strengthen its market presence. In addition, the new production system introduces several technological improvements. It replaces the previous two-tower crystallization process with a single-tower method, reducing equipment investment and cutting crystallization separation time by nearly 10 hours. This change has boosted work efficiency by about 10%. The rectification tower now uses the production raw material as a circulating medium for the vacuum system, achieving the necessary vacuum conditions while eliminating exhaust gas emissions and minimizing material loss. These innovations not only improve environmental performance but also enhance overall production efficiency and sustainability.
