16 Gas Standards Revised

On April 1, it was revealed by the Secretariat of the National Gas Standardization Technical Committee that 16 national gas standards have successfully passed an online vote conducted among 55 members. This development is expected to significantly contribute to regulating the gas market, enhancing gas quality, and promoting greater alignment with international standards. These revised standards were updated in response to changes in global gas standards and the evolving needs of China's gas industry. The National Standardization Administration Committee reviews and updates these standards annually. Following a thorough online review process, several key standards were revised, including "Industrial Oxygen," "Industrial Nitrogen," "Pure Nitrogen, High-Purity Nitrogen, and Ultra-Pure Nitrogen," "Pure Oxygen, High-Purity Oxygen, and Ultra-Pure Oxygen," "Determination of Hydrogen in Gases by Gas Chromatography," "Determination of Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Dioxide, and Hydrocarbons in Gases by Gas Chromatography," "Comparison of Measurement and Calibration of Gas Analytical Calibration Mixtures," "Gas Analysis Vocabulary," "Medical and Aviation Breathing Oxygen, Pure, High-Purity, Ultra-Pure Oxygen, Nitrous Oxide for the Electronic Industry, Gas Oxygen for the Electronic Industry, Gas Nitrogen for the Electronic Industry, Gas Hydrogen for the Electronic Industry, Phosphine for Gases in the Electronic Industry, and Sulfur Hexafluoride for the Electronics Industry." Wang Shaonan, Secretary General of the Gas Standardization Committee and Director of the Gas Standardization Research Institute at Southwest Chemical Research and Design Institute, explained that the gas industry plays a vital role across various sectors, including food and beverage, healthcare, metallurgy, chemical production, microelectronics, semiconductors, optical fiber, and aerospace. He emphasized that gas standards are crucial for market access and have become an essential part of the broader market rule system. Currently, there is a need to strengthen the alignment of Chinese gas standards with international ones, improve the review of standard samples, and enhance the training of personnel involved in gas product inspection and calibration.
