Today marks a somber occasion as the wake and visitation for Chicago Firefighter Corey Ankum is taking place at the Apostolic Church of God, located at 6320 S. Dorchester Avenue. Corey was one of the two brave members of the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) who tragically lost their lives following the devastating building collapse on 1744 E. 75th Street back on December 22, 2010. The viewing hours extend until 8 PM this evening. For those seeking updates, the Chicago Tribune has shared a concise article here. Additionally, MyFoxChicago has posted an insightful article accompanied by a video that you can find here. Local photographer Tim Olk was present at the church earlier today to document the emotional scenes unfolding during the wake. He has generously shared a few initial photos, which you can see below, with more images expected to be released soon.
