Guizhou Hongfu Company Develops Fluorine Project

Guizhou Hongfu Corporation has recently introduced advanced installation technology and key equipment from Swiss-based Davy Process Technology Co., Ltd. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the production of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride (AHF), as the two companies are jointly utilizing waste fluosilicic acid generated during phosphate rock mining and fertilizer production. Together, they have invested 200 million yuan to build a state-of-the-art facility with an annual output of 20,000 tons. The project officially launched a few days ago, making it the world's first industrial-scale plant to apply this specific process for AHF production. Fluorine is a critical component in various industries, including rubber manufacturing, refrigeration systems, and defense applications. Traditionally, fluorine was mainly extracted using fluorite, but rising costs due to the depletion of fluorite reserves have made this method less sustainable. China’s phosphate ore contains approximately 3.5% fluorine, yet current extraction techniques are inefficient, leading to significant resource loss and environmental pollution. This new technology aims to address these challenges by effectively recovering fluorine from waste streams. Hongfu Co., Ltd. and Davy Process Technology have signed a strategic agreement to promote this innovative technology globally. Under the deal, Hongfu has been appointed as the exclusive engineering contractor in China, responsible for demonstrating and implementing the technology within the country. Both parties will share the benefits of their collaboration on a global scale, opening up new opportunities for sustainable fluorine production. Looking ahead, Hongfu plans to conduct in-depth research into fluorine resource development, aiming to achieve a value of between 150 million and 2 billion yuan in fluorochemical production over the next 5 to 8 years. The company also intends to expand its operations by exporting both products and equipment through the anhydrous hydrogen fluoride production process. In terms of technology and intellectual property, this initiative represents a new model of industrialization, blending innovation with sustainability to create long-term value.
