For the first time, the Jilin Petrochemical Ethylene Glycol Plant has implemented an advanced domestic technology based on the Beijing principle. This initiative involves using a catalyst mechanical packing system independently developed by Equipment Maintenance Co., Ltd. to refine and distribute imported barrel-packed catalysts. The new method significantly reduces labor input and boosts operational efficiency.
The ethylene glycol plant uses catalysts that are stored in large barrels. Before they can be loaded into the reactor, each individual tube must be filled with precisely measured small bags of catalyst. This process requires dividing over 50 tons of catalyst into more than 9,570 portions, which was previously done manually. Manual division was not only time-consuming but also prone to inaccuracies, making it inefficient and labor-intensive.
The newly introduced sub-equipment offers enhanced functionality, ensuring even distribution and accurate measurement, which greatly reduces the need for manual weighing. As a result, the plant can now complete the catalyst reloading task—previously taking about a week—in just two and a half days. This improvement not only saves time but also enhances precision and safety during the operation. The adoption of this advanced technology marks a significant step forward in optimizing plant operations and maintaining competitive edge in the industry.
