Large grass fire in Grayslake, 4-9-14
This just came in from Sam Borica. He sent me these incredible photos he took of the massive brush fire earlier today (April 9, 2014) in Grayslake. It happened near Route 60 and Behm Lane. From what Sam said, it was quite an extensive fire covering numerous acres. Multiple fire departments had to be called in to handle the situation, and they worked tirelessly for about an hour and a half to fully extinguish the flames and clear the area.
Sam mentioned that he also captured a shot of the Mundelein Ambulance 431 at Grayslake’s Station #3 during a change of quarters across the street. The coordination between departments must have been something to see.
I’ve added all the images below so you can get a better sense of how intense the fire was. Each photo really tells its own story about the scale and effort required to bring this situation under control.

It’s always shocking to see the power of nature when things like this happen, but it’s comforting to know that there are dedicated firefighters and emergency personnel who work around the clock to keep us safe.
