Beiqi's production in the first eight months of this year ranks among the top three in the domestic auto group
(Reporter Zhang Qi) As of late September, Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Group reported that the cumulative production and sales volume of the Beijing auto industry has surpassed 3 million units. Since the establishment of the Beijing Automobile Manufacturing Plant in 1958, which began producing the "Jinggangshan" brand car, the development of the local automotive sector has steadily accelerated. Beiqi achieved its first million vehicles in 35 years, the second million in eight years, and the third million was completed just three years ago. In the first eight months of this year alone, the Beijing Automotive Group produced 339,200 units — a figure equivalent to the total output of 2003. This performance helped the group surpass Changan and Dongfeng, securing the third position among domestic automakers.
In October, the first batch of Mercedes-Benz cars from the Beijing Jeep Benz sedan project is expected to officially roll off the production line. Additionally, the commercial vehicle collaboration between Beiqi Foton and Mercedes-Benz will be officially announced this year. Meanwhile, the fifth commercial vehicle brand under Beiqi Foton — Oween Bus — is anticipated to receive approval soon, further expanding the product lineup of the Beijing Automotive Group. These developments highlight the growing strength and diversification of the company as it continues to strengthen its position in both the domestic and international markets.
